90s Clothing Trend

Trends from the 90s that are Coming Back

The 90s are calling and the trends are here. The year 2021 is all about the 90s trends, except they are bolder than ever. You will see 90s streetwear, hairstyles, and bra trends all over the place. Whether you are looking for the best jeans for women or a velour lounge set, you are sure to find this year with throwback trends from the 90s.

Slip Dresses

From dresses to tank tops, everything in the 90s had a silk feel, including sleep dresses. The dresses have a boudoir look and feel no matter what time of the day you wear them. Most people tend to wear slip dresses in lawyers, such as a shirt underneath or a blazer over top.

Claw Clips

Claw clips are for your hair. In 2021, the trend spread through Instagram and Tik Tok. Back in the 90s, celebs wore hair clips at red carpet events. What do you do when you want to take your claw clip out of your hair but don’t want to lose it? Clip it to the bottom of your shirt.

Claw clips come in every color you can imagine. From classic black and tortoise to more contemporary pastel and neon colors.

Bomber Jackets

Champion and Tommy Hilfiger were the big names when it came to bomber jackets. Bomber jackets were so popular because they worked with any outfit. Now, most companies make bomber jackets so you can find one that suits your style. Sport your bomber jacket all year round.

Mesh

Celebrities like Cardi B and Kylie Jenner are wearing mesh tops and dresses. Mesh tops are hot, and they are in plain and vibrant colors. Wear a cute bralette underneath, a tank top, or just a regular bra.

Oversized Clothes

Oversized clothes are coming back, so watch for oversized t-shirts, sweatshirts, and button-down shirts. These clothes are way more comfortable when you are out running errands or hanging out at the house. After a long day at work, come home and slip into something oversized and comfy. You can easily relax in these clothes.

Jeans

Gen Z tried to cancel skinny jeans although it didn’t really work. However, the 90s loose, comfortable jeans are coming back. If you are sick of wearing skinny jeans and want something more relaxed, look for skater jeans, straight-leg jeans, and flare jeans. Yes, flare jeans are back. Acid-wash jeans and two-tone jeans are also coming back in style to give a more vintage look.

Graphic Tees

Do graphic tees really go out of style? They are a staple in most people’s wardrobes. Wear your favorite graphic tee with a denim jacket with chains on back or a long sleeve shirt underneath. The long sleeve shirt underneath is totally 90s. It was the perfect combination of cool and comfortable.

Platform Shoes

Want to look taller and more stylish when you wear your outfits? Platform shoes are the answer. You can find platform shoes in everything from Doc Martens to Converse.

Corduroy

Corduroy started coming back in the fall of 2020 and lasted through the winter. Expect to see even more corduroy in fall of 2021. American Eagle and other popular clothing brands are releasing corduroy clothing lines this year. Some of the clothing pieces include shorts, dresses, skirts, jackets, overalls, and hats.

Sweater Vests

I never thought sweater vests would come back, but here we are. Most look like they did in the 90s, oversized and printed. Wear them with jeans or a tennis skirt. For a more put-together look, wear a turtleneck or short sleeve shirt underneath.

Patchwork

Who says you only need one pattern on a piece of clothing? Patchwork is coming back and is hotter than ever. Patchwork has a grunge appeal while adding a chic touch to the piece. Patches aren’t just for jeans either. You will see them on dresses, rompers, jumpsuits, and jackets.

Sports Bras

Remember in the 90s when everyone wore sports bras? While they were uncomfortable back then, sports bras today are upgraded to be much more comfortable. Wear a sports bra underneath a pair of overalls or with your favorite mini skirt. Mix it up a little and wear a sports bra underneath a cardigan. There are no rules with this one so let your imagination run wild.

Track Pants

It is about time these come back. Look for white, yellow, and bright red track pants to make their appearance this year. They will likely stay til next year as well. The loose, easy fit of track pants are the biggest reason people love them.

Slouchy Trousers

Comfortable is definitely in style this year as you can see with slouchy trousers. When you pair these with a suit you will have a casual, yet classy look. You can even wear them with t-shirts or button-down tops. An oversized blazer fits well with slouchy trousers. Pair it with a cute clutch, jewelry, and high heels for a sophisticated look.

Overalls

Long overalls, short overalls, and even skirt overalls. You will find these in any store you walk into. They are not limited to jeans anymore, the overalls are made out of all types of materials. If you want something breezy for summertime, try cotton overalls. They dry fast in case you get caught in the rain and will keep you cool in the summer sun.

Clogs

Clogs are like a half shoe. The traditional clogs have a wooden sole and are pretty clunky. However, expect to see more of these around town. Hopefully, they upgraded a bit since the 90s because the old clogs wreaked-havoc on the feet.
